Cabinet NG Completes implementation of its electronic medical records and office automation solution at The ORTHOPAEDIC Center (TOC)
Paperless Technology "Goes-Live" to Help Huntsville Medical Facility Provide Patients with Greater Service and Privacy
December 2, 2003 - Athens, Alabama—Cabinet NG, Inc., the industry's only automated file management solution that starts filing as you start typing, announced today that The Orthopaedic Center began using its Shared Access Filing Environment (CNG-SAFE) solution. In addition to the core software implementation to replace paper-based medical records, CNG-Forms is being used to automate patient check-in and clinical documentation. The solution integrates with Companion Technologies' MegaWest practice management system, various clinical functions, transcription automation, and remote facilities to provide a secure end-to-end automated workflow process.
TOC offers state of the art diagnostic and treatment technology and is one of Alabama's largest orthopaedic and sports medicine centers. "Having the latest patient care technology is a must. We also recognized the need to automate the clinics non-treatment functions in order to maintain an overall superior service to our patients, said Phillip Maddox, M.D., President of The Orthopaedic Center. "The Cabinet NG solution supports these functions exceptionally well and we were very impressed with the entire implementation, training and go-live process."
"Professionals in the medical industry recognize it is now possible to provide better patient service, maintain compliance with recent federal HIPAA regulations and reduce costs by applying paperless technology within their practice. However, to be successful requires a strong commitment to achieve these goals and a willingness to embrace change. The success of this project would not be possible without TOC's commitment across the entire organization," said Abe Niedzwiecki, VP of Technology, Cabinet NG.
Migrating patient files and coordinating the entire process among the 90 TOC employees required a multi-phase approach. First, improvements were made to the internal network to increase capacity, redundancy and security. New workstations were installed in all patient exam rooms. Next, the Cabinet NG software was installed and office personnel were trained. Several office functions, including patient check-in/out, EOB processing, patient chart scanning, and integration with MegaWest were also completed. With all functions in place and thoroughly tested, the physicians were trained to use Cabinet NG as part of the final phase.
"Cabinet NG's support through the entire implementation process was exceptional. Rather than disappearing once the contract was signed, Cabinet NG walked us through the entire process and even worked directly with our other vendors in pulling all the pieces together," said Monica Moore, Chief Operations Officer of The Orthopaedic Center. "Cabinet NG is a team player that focuses on delivering complete customer satisfaction. Speaking for the entire staff, we made the right choice in moving to paperless with Cabinet NG."
