Cabinet NG's Shared Access Filing Environment (CNG-SAFE) Integrates Electronic Forms Management Using ScanSoft's Award Winning OmniForm Technology

June 30, 2003 - Athens, Alabama - Cabinet NG, Inc., the industry's only automated file management solution that starts filing as you start typing, announced today a new electronic forms offering that enhances productivity and reduces costs by eliminating paper at the source. CNG-Forms incorporates ScanSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: SSFT) award-winning OmniForm® eform design and form filling technology. CNG-Forms is now fully integrated with Cabinet NG's Shared Access Filing Environment. Users simply complete a form at their computer, submit the completed form for processing and approval, and manage the entire workflow process through Cabinet NG.

Paper forms are a constant in most businesses, but the cost associated with the forms does not have to be. Cabinet NG now offers a way to drive down the cost associated with business forms—eliminate the paper forms. According to the Gartner Group, 83% of all business processes are completed with forms, more precisely, paper forms. Gartner also estimates that electronic forms can save as much as 50% of the labor costs associated with traditional pre-printed forms. For every dollar spent on producing paper forms, between $30 and $60 is spent in processing those forms. In addition to labor cost, 30% of pre-printed forms becomes obsolete before being used.

CNG-Forms allows users to improve business processes in a variety of ways:

  • Complete electronic forms from within Cabinet NG--With CNG-Forms, users are able to open and complete electronic forms directly within Cabinet NG. This ensures that each form becomes part of the Shared Access Filing Environment, is filed and accessible by other users having proper access authority.
  • Automatically populate common form fields across multiple forms--CNG-Forms links to information contained in a database allowing information to automatically pre-fill fields using custom profiles. This saves time, ensures data is valid and minimizes the risk of data entry errors. Graphic imports are also supported.
  • Route forms for approval or further processing--Using Cabinet NG's Shared Access Filing Environment, forms get routed to the next individual or group of individuals for further processing and approval quickly, securely and without getting misplaced or lost. In many cases, this can reduce the approval cycle by days… if not weeks.
  • Export data to any OBDC-compliant database--Turning your information into a tool that gives you better insight about your operation is quick and easy with Cabinet NG. CNG-Forms allows you to export data into a database for further sorting and analysis. Learn what works, what doesn't and what's needed today or in the future.
  • Sign forms electronically (and lock entered data)--Sign-off should be final, and with CNG-Forms it is! CNG-Forms supports real-time signature pads, and stored signatures via entering a pin code. Once a form is signed, entered data is locked and cannot be changed. CNG-Forms can even check that all required fields are completed before allowing sign-off.

Availability and other services

CNG-Forms runs on Cabinet NG Version 4.2 and is shipping in production volume. Cabinet NG also offers services to convert existing paper forms into custom electronic forms.
